We want every child to have a positive experience at The Little Tooth Company. Pediatric dentistry is our specialty, which makes us the experts at providing comfortable, anxiety-free dentistry for our patients. We take it one step further to make each visit fun, interactive, educational, and a truly special experience. We recognize each child is an individual with their own unique needs and treat them the way want to be treated.
Our team really puts our patients at ease. We encourage them to ask questions about their dentistry and oral health. When they need a little extra help relaxing, or if they have health or developmental challenges that make treatment difficult, we offer three levels of sedation to make treatment possible.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation
Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas as it is sometimes called, is our mildest form of sedation. It takes the edge off for anxious kids. Since it enters the system quickly through a small nose mask and we can control it throughout treatment, we always administer the right amount to keep your child relaxed.
Once we turn off the nitrous oxide, it leaves the system quickly so that you child feels completely normal within minutes. It is completely safe for most patients.
IV Sedation Dentistry
For patients requiring a greater level of sedation, we can enlist the help of an anesthesiologist for in-office or hospital treatment. Depending on your child’s needs, the anesthesiologist will adjust the level of sedation to keep your child relaxed and able to have the treatment they need to stay healthy.
For patients with extensive treatment plans, very young patients, children with behavioral or developmental challenges that make dental treatment difficult or uncomfortable, sedation provides a comfortable solution.
Before beginning any sedation, we will ask for a full health history to rule out any potential complications. We can schedule a consultation to help you make the best decision for your child that will be effective and allow them to achieve good oral health.
Parents have an option to have their child sedated in the office or hospital – we often make recommendations based on the type of treatment the child requires, medical condition, parent preference, soonest availability, and medical insurance coverage. We can normally get patients in within a month. Hospital dentistry allows patients to have their necessary dentistry with additional medical support that a hospital provides.
